TEEN Mom dad Ryan Edwards is sober after his April release from jail for a drug-related arrest – and he got his life in order just in time for the birth of his daughter.
Ryan’s dad Larry exclusively told The Sun Online that his once-troubled son has completely turned his life around as he prepares to welcome his third child with wife Mackenzie after the holidays.
Larry, who has appeared on the MTV series, admitted he is “happy” with his son’s progression.
He said: “Ryan is doing great. He’s wonderful. No problems at all. Things are going well.”
The Teen Mom OG grandpa added: “He’s sober. He’s staying busy. Mackenzie keeps an eye on him!”
Ryan, 31, and Mackenzie, who married in 2017, recently bought their own house.
Larry revealed: “They have moved in. The house is halfway between us and her mom and dad.”
But although Ryan appears to have changed his life for the better, he’s still on the outs with the mother of his 11-year-old son Bentley, Maci Bookout, and her husband, Taylor McKinney.
Maci, 28, filed a protection order against Ryan in May 2018.
She claimed he threatened to show up to her home and “hurt her” if she didn’t answer the phone.
The TTM Lifestyle owner also accused him of attending their son Bentley’s sports game “under the influence of heroin.”
Taylor, 30, also filed a restraining order against him, claiming he threatened to “put a bullet” in his head.
Their children Jade, 4, and Maverick, 3, are also protected in the order.
Both orders were granted for two years.
Larry said of the situation: “As long as everyone behaves themselves then we can forget all about it and go back to being normal.”
He explained how Ryan often goes to their home to see Bentley.
The drama for Ryan started in March 2017 when he was issued a citation for simple possession of heroin.
The dad checked into rehab for the second time after his May 2017 wedding to Mackenzie.
He was caught on camera slurring his words and nodding off while on his way to their wedding on Teen Mom OG.
In March 2018, he was arrested for petition to revoke when he failed a court-ordered drug test.
The reality star was arrested again in July 2018 for breaking probation from a past possession of heroin charge.
He was sentenced in both cases.
He completed his third rehab stint in November 2018.
But Ryan was arrested again in January 2019 for breaking probation from a past possession of heroin charge.
He served 90 days in jail and was released in April.
Larry previously told The Sun Online Mackenzie, who is also mother to son Hudson from a previous marriage, is expected to give birth days after Ryan’s January 3 birthday.
The birth will be “special” for Ryan, as he missed the October 2018 birth of their son Jagger, 1, because of his rehab stint.
