When did Sarah have her heart operation in Emmerdale and who was her donor?

Young Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) has already been through so much in her life in Emmerdale, despite only being a teenager.

Since 2011, Sarah has faced health problems after being diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that required her to have a bone marrow transplant.

Tonight, Sarah’s health is looked at again as she collapses.

As a terrified Sarah thinks she’s dying, she’ll be rushed to hospital where doctors will monitor her donor heart.

When did Sarah have her heart operation?

Back in 2018, doctors revealed that Sarah was suffering from heart failure, a rare side effect of the chemotherapy she had in to treat her throat cancer.

While waiting for her transplant, Sarah picked up a virus and had to spend time in hospital while her and her family waited for a heart donor.

When Sarah eventually had her operation, complications occurred that saw her family learn Sarah’s new heart wasn’t working.

However, after medication, Sarah’s heart was stabilised and she made a recovery.

Who was Sarah’s heart donor?

Following Leanna’s (Mimi Slinger) death, Sarah will realise how important her life is and, after speaking to Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper), she’ll decide she wants to contact the family of her heart donor.

Not a great deal is known about the family, but as Sarah is given contact details by Cain, she’ll learn more about the teenager who saved her life and how they died.

Will the family want to talk to Sarah?

Or will they fail to respond to her attempts at reaching out?
