It seems like an age since we last saw Ian Beale in EastEnders – and there is no indication yet that Adam Woodyatt will be appearing in Walford any time soon.
The popular actor is heading into I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! as a late contestant along with Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson.
And after the tribulations of the Welsh castle, Adam will be heading to the stage again – if he survives the snakes, that is.
He told Metro.co.uk when asked if there was any sign of Ian on the horizon: ‘I’m still on tour with Looking Good Dead, the Peter James book.
‘So I literally come out of the castle whenever that is, have Christmas off and then we’re back into rehearsals because Laurie Brett’s taking over from Gaynor Faye.
‘And then we’re doing that until the end of April.’
So – that’s a no then.
At least EastEnders fans can have some nostalgia, with Adam working with his former co-star who played Ian’s wife Jane.
He enthused: ‘It’s been it’s been a lot of fun working and seeing her again. It’s kind of bittersweet.
‘I’m looking forward to Laurie coming in, I’m going to miss Gaynor because she’s been an absolute joy to work with. It’s been wonderful.’
Adam and Simon will be thrust into the I’m A Celeb action tomorrow – so how does Adam reckon Mr Beale would fare in there? He’d certainly make more than a few enemies.
He pondered: ‘Hopefully I won’t squeal like Ian Beale, that’s the only thing I can say to that. I don’t think he’d cope at all.’
Well, Adam is at least bound to do better than his alter ego. We think.
