X Factor star Ariel Burdett’s cause of death has been confirmed after the aspiring singer’s body was discovered at her home in Leeds on November 12.
The 38-year-old – real name Amy – was found with a ‘stab wound to the neck’ an inquest has revealed, though there were no suspicions circumstances surrounding her death.
Neighbours made desperate attempts to track down Ariel after becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare. However, they were unable to enter her property.
In a statement, West Yorkshire Police told Metro.co.uk: ‘On November 12, police were called to an address in the Woodhouse area of Leeds where a woman had been found dead.
‘There were no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office was informed. An inquest is due to open on November 27.’
Ariel became one of the most memorable acts on The X Factor after auditioning in front of Simon Cowell, Cheryl, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh.
She burst into the audition rom, revealed she worked as a ‘holistic vocal coach’, tore off her label and declared: ‘I’m a human being, not a number.’
‘That was a complete and utter nightmare,’ Simon gasped after she sang one of her own self-penned numbers.
Cheryl added: ‘If I came to you for holistic [coaching] I would be scared of you, you’re actually really quite scary. ‘The way you walked over to me I thought we were going to have a scrap.’
Ariel subsequently called the Girls Aloud singer ‘stupid’.
A friend has since explained the musician ‘struggled with her demons for a while’.
‘I think she regretted appearing on X Factor because she actually a decent musician and it sort of tainted her,’ he told The Sun.
