Yellowstone is a much-loved drama on Paramount Network created by Taylor Sheridan. The series is held in such high esteem a prequel series titled Y: 1883 has already been given the green light. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about Sheridan’s latest venture – a Yellowstone spin-off for Paramount+.
When is the Yellowstone spin-off out?
Yellowstone is an intense Western drama set on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in Montana, owned by the Dutton family.
A total of three seasons have aired so far, with the fourth due to land on Paramount Network this summer.
In February 2021 it was announced a new spin-off with the working title 6666 had been given the green light for Paramount+.
The news comes just after the announcement of the prequel series, Y:1883, which is also in the making.
Sadly as the news has only just come to light, there are no details of a release date at this moment in time.
Fans can hope for an early 2022 release, providing all goes well amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Who is in the cast of the Yellowstone spin-off?
The original series follows John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) and his children, as well as the ranch hands.
Kelly Reilly stars as his daughter Beth Dutton, with Cole Hauser as Beth’s partner Rip Wheeler.
The 6666 spin-off is believed to be about an entirely different ranch, so the original cast may not be returning.
There had been rumours Ryan Bingham and Jefferson White will be reprising their roles as Walker and Jimmy, but this is yet to be confirmed.
An official cast list is yet to be announced, but fans are hoping there could be some crossover with characters.
Is there a trailer for the Yellowstone spin-off?
As news of 6666 has only just been announced, there is no trailer right now as no release date has been given.
Hopefully, viewers can expect to see some form of teaser in the coming weeks, as a short teaser for the prequel Y:1883 has already been revealed.
A full trailer is not likely to emerge until towards the end of 2021 when filming has taken place.
David Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, said they were working closely with Sheridan, Paramount+ and MTV Entertainment on the new project.
He said: “Together, we have been able to build Yellowstone into an immersive universe for audiences globally. And that is what we intend to do with these series as well.
“We will be introducing new characters and storylines alongside world-class talent and creators. We are very much looking forward to bringing these shows to life.”

What will happen in the Yellowstone spin-off?
The new series will be set in a different era to Yellowstone when the Native American Comanches still ruled West Texas.
One ranch, in particular, known as the 6666, is the most notorious in Western American history.
The synopsis for the new series reads: “Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing.
“The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavour to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are born and made.”
Meanwhile, the prequel series Y:1883 follows the earlier generations of the Dutton family as they travel across the Great Plains to find a better future.
The latest announcement marks a huge milestone for the Yellowstone franchise as it seeks to expand.
Fans are excited at the prospect of a Yellowstone universe as this is the third series to join the franchise.
Paramount+ is due to arrive on March 4 and viewers are looking forward to delving deeper into Sheridan’s world.
The producer and director is also working on a new Paramount series, called Mayor of Kingstown, which will star Jeremy Renner.
