Strictly Come Dancing professional Anton Du Beke, 54, has been married to Hannah Summers since 2017. The pair met at a dinner function, where Anton initially thought she was sat with her partner. After realising her guest was just a male friend, the dancer recalled making his move in an attempt to impress her.

The Strictly veteran began by saying he is often asked to dance with people at events away from the show, but politely declines.

“I never dance at these social functions, as soon as the dancing starts I’m off out the door,” he revealed.

This time however, the dancer said he asked Hannah if she would like to dance with him as he fancied her.

“I remember you asked me to dance and that terrified me,” she recalled.

“This is unheard of I never do this, so I must’ve been feeling pretty frisky,” he laughed.

Recalling Hannah’s reaction to his request, he continued: “Oh no’ she said, ‘I don’t do your sort of dancing I’m more of a raver’.”

Anton’s wife went on to say that during the pair’s chat, a dinner guest had come over and asked if he would dance with his ill mother-in-law.

Hannah added: “Anton said ‘No’ at which point I said, ‘you horrible man! You’re not going to dance with that old lady over there?’

“So I said, ‘Well I’m definitely not dancing with you!’

Following Hannah’s reaction, Anton decided to accept the offer and danced with the guest’s mother-in-law, at his now wife’s request.

When asked what happened next, the dancer joked: “You were all over me like a rash when you sobered up! I offered her a lift home.”

Anton has previously said it was love at first sight with Hannah that evening.

On whether the feeling the mutual, she said: “There was definitely a twinkle in the eye!”

Anton also surprised Consciously Coupling podcast hosts Johnnie and Tiggy Walker with his admission about following Hannah to the toilet.

“I’m amazed she spoke to me again,” he laughed.

Hannah went on to say the dancer had also thrown a bread roll at her that evening to catch her attention.

“I was flirty and mischievous,” he responded, laughing off the moment.

Despite what may seemed to be an awkward first encounter, the pair went on to go on dates and tied the knot in 2017.

In the same year, they welcomed their twins Henrietta and George via IVF.

On becoming a first time dad aged 50 at the time, he told the Belfast Telegraph: “There are pros and cons.

“I don’t think of myself as an older father, I just think of myself as a father. I don’t know what it was like the first time around.

“Some of my friends have got remarried and suddenly had children again, and already have grown-up children. Neither Hannah nor I had that situation.”
