LadBaby hopes to knock Mariah Carey off top spot for Christmas number one

LadBaby hopes to score another Christmas number one with his new song Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ – knocking Mariah Carey off the top spot.

The star – real name Mark Hoyle – and his wife Roxanne made chart history last year, by racking up a second consecutive Christmas number one for the Trussell Trust.

So, will it be the third time lucky?

Speaking to Metro.co.uk about the new sausage roll-themed song, Mark explained that it will be a challenge to get another Christmas hit, but they are ‘going to try’.

‘I’m thinking that this year, there are so many amazing songs that have come out raising money for so many incredible charities,’ he told us.

‘Obviously, I know that the charts at the moment have been dominated by the Christmas classics, Mariah Carey has got her song (All I Want For Christmas) to number one.’

‘It’s going to be hard this year to get a number one, but we’re gonna try because we’ve got to try,’ he added.

‘If we can make people laugh and put a smile on their face, and do that while doing it for the Trussell Trust, then we will have been successful no matter what.’

Don’t Stop Me Eatin’, which is the family’s hilarious take on the Journey Classic, Don’t Stop Believing, will be released on December 18.

All proceeds from the single will go to The Trussell Trust, whose mission is to end the need for food banks in the UK.

The race to Christmas Number kicks off this Friday with the winner being announced on BBC Radio 1’s The Official Chart on Christmas Day.

Mariah, who is currently holding on to the number one spot, also has another rival battling for the 2020 title.

Justin Bieber and The NHS Choir have also released a rendition of Justin’s hit song Holy.

In 2018 LadBaby managed to beat out musical heavyweights including Ariana Grande to land the Christmas number one with a comic take on We Built This City, trading in ‘rock and roll’ for sausage rolls.

They then followed it up with a parody of I Love Rock N Roll in 2019 with I Love Sausage Rolls, which also got the Christmas number one, beating the likes of Stormzy.

But, will they knock Mariah Carey off the top spot?
