Prince Harry, 36, recently came under scrutiny for his casual attire while at the unveiling of his late mother Princess Diana’s memorial statue on July 1 at Kensington Palace.
Now, Lady Colin Campbell has claimed his disregard for traditional dress code and relaxed nature is no longer “appealing” to the British public.

Speaking in a video on her YouTube channel, Lady Colin compared the appearance of Prince Harry to that of his elder brother Prince William at the statue unveiling.

She claimed: “I think the contrast between William’s demeanour and Harry’s demeanour is the contrast between as Harry would put it, ‘The paths they are on’.”

Furthermore, the aristocrat alleged that the jovial aspect of the Duke of Sussex’s personality is no longer making him relatable to the public.

“Harry is shaping up to be a clown, a court jester. He always had that slight aspect to his personality, which was very appealing, but it’s not very appealing anymore.

“It really is not at all appealing,” she insisted.

Prince Harry wore a navy blue suit for the occasion with a light blue tie paired with brown brogues.

Lady Colin continued: “There’s an old rule of thumb and I’m sure Harry knows it well. The old rule is no brown in town. No gentleman wears brown shoes in town. Unless he is totally dressed down.”

The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant believes the Duke’s outfit was his way of defying traditional dress codes expected by members of the royal household.

She claimed: “I’m pretty sure this is his Margaret Thatcher victory sign to everybody. That he is above all the rules. He looked inelegant, he looked unkempt, William by contrast was impeccable.”

Prince William also wore a navy suit with a lighter blue tie but he paired his look with black leather shoes.

Lady Colin is not the only royal author to take umbrage with Prince Harry’s attire for the celebration of Princess Diana’s legacy, on what would have been her 60th birthday, as Angela Levin also weighed in.

She told Talk Radio: “I thought Prince Harry was putting on a huge phoney face actually.

“He came out looking like a ‘dude’, not a prince.

“His shirt was creased, his jacket wasn’t done up, he had these brown shoes on.

“They were all making points, he arrived only ten minutes before the unveiling and all that smiling and laughter, I bet he was taught that by somebody else, we don’t have to mention the name.”

Julia Hartley-Brewer however defended Prince Harry and his behaviour.

She said: “This is the job, if you are going to have a public unveiling of a statue of your mum, who was a very public figure, then you have got to turn up and put the smiles on.

“Otherwise don’t do a public unveiling, he has been trained to do that?

“I’m sorry, but millions of people do that all the time for their jobs.”

The royal expert continued to defend her stance and argued it was very clear in her mind that the Duke of Sussex was not being genuine at the event.
