Paddy McGuinness leaning on Kirsty Gallacher as pair grow closer

He might be yet to sign his divorce papers – having only called time on his marriage last year – but Paddy McGuinness appears to have already set his sights on a potential new partner.

After being papped with television presenter Kirsty Gallacher at the Ham Yard Hotel last week, following a night out in London’s Soho, a source close to Paddy, 49, now claims that the pair have been "leaning on each other" since their respective break-ups and that a blossoming romance might be on the cards.

They told OK!, "Paddy and Kirsty have known each other a long time and are good friends. They have a lot in common. They’re both single and have gone through marriage splits, Paddy more recently.

"Kirsty is a bit of a shoulder for him to lean on and she’s good at giving advice."

Paddy and ex-wife Christine McGuinness, 34 – who together share twins Leo and Penelope, eight and daughter Felicity, six, – officially announced the end of their 11-year marriage in July 2022.

Taking to Instagram to break the sad news, the former couple – who met in 2007 after being introduced by a mutual friend back before tying the knot three years later – wrote, "A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.

"This was not an easy decision to make, but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children."

And whilst our source claims that the Top Gear host and his presenter pal Kirsty, 47, are keeping their relationship totally platonic for the time-being, they hinted that their long-standing friendship could develop into something deeper.

"For now, they’re just hanging out as friends and they’re not dating," they explained. "But who knows where it could go? Watch this space…".

The rumoured romance comes just weeks after Kirsty revealed she was on the lookout for a new man following her 2015 split from her former rugby player husband of 16 years, Paul Sampson.

The ex Sky Sports News broadcaster – who shares sons Oscar, 15, and Jude, 12 with Paul – previously told press, "I’m currently dating! I’m not with anyone in particular right now, but I’m very open to something. That would be really lovely."
