Princess Eugenie left front row seat empty at wedding to Jack Brooksbank on purpose

Princess Eugenie marked her three year wedding anniversary to husband Jack Brooksbank on Tuesday 12 October.

The Queen's granddaughter, 31, wed businessman Jack, 35, in a grand ceremony at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in 2018.

More than 850 people packed into the church to watch the couple exchange vows, including the Queen, Cara Delevigne and Robbie Williams.

But, a close look at the photographs from the couple's big day show the front row seat in front of the Queen was left empty.

The empty seat wasn't down to a no show on the day, but it was down to the Queen herself.

According to royal protocol, no one had sit in front of the Queen and obstruct her view.

The 94 year old monarch is said to find the front row seat at St George's chapel, which is her private chapel, uncomfortable.

Her Majesty is said to prefer to sit in the second row amongst other senior royals, according to The Sun.

At Eugenie's wedding, the Queen sat on the same row as her husband Prince Philip, son Prince Charles and his sons Prince William and Harry alongside Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

The Queen sat in the same place for Meghan and Harry's nuptials in at Windsor's St George's Chapel in 2018.

Some mistook this as a tribute to Harry's late mother Princess Diana.

But a royal commentator clarified as they said: “The seat in front of the Queen is always left empty, I am told by BP [Buckingham Palace].

"She needs to be seen — and the seat she was sitting in today is her favourite seat in that chapel, apparently!"

Princess Eugenie marked three years since she and Jack said "I do" with a sweet Instagram post.

She shared a photo of herself and Jack sharing a hug and wrote in the caption: "Happy Anniversary my love.. 3 years today!!"

Eugenie and Jack welcomed their first child together, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, in February this year.
