Sinead OConnors Teenage Son Died After Going Missing

The ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer previously called out the hospital for letting Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor ‘out of their grasp’ days after ‘he made two severe suicide attempts.’

AceShowbizSinead O’Connor has unfortunately lost her child. Days after revealing that Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor had gone missing, the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer announced on social media that her 17-year-old son has passed away.

The 55-year-old shared the devastating news via Twitter on Friday, January 7. “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God,” she wrote. “May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.”

Sinead went on to share a link to Bob Marley‘s “Ride Natty Ride” as a tribute to her late son. “This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eye baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us,” she tweeted.

A few days earlier, Sinead divulged that Shane had gone missing. Posting a photo of the teenager, she said, “This is a message for my son, Shane. Shane, it’s not funny any more all this going missing. You are scaring the crap out of me. Could you please do the right thing and present yourself at a Gardai station. If you are with Shane please call the Gardai for his safety.”

“Shane, your life is precious. God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing,” the musician went on noting. “My world would collapse without you. You are my heart. Please don’t stop it from beating. Please don’t harm yourself. Go to the Gardai and let’s get you to hospital.”

Sinead, who has been open about her own mental struggles and suicidal thoughts in the past, then slammed the hospital for their lack of supervision. “I want to know why Lynn Ward at Taillight hospital who were supposed to have HCA’s supervise my child 24/7 have managed to let him out of their grasp this morning when 7 days ago he made two severe suicide attempts,” she argued.

“Like, how has a seventeen year old traumatised young person WHO WAS ON SUICIDE WATCH in Tallaght Hosptial’s Lynn Ward been able to go missing??? Hospital of course so far refusing to take any responsibility,” she continued fuming. “Anything happens to my son on their watch? Lawsuits.”

On Saturday, Sinead claimed that she hasn’t heard anything from the Child and Family Agency in regards to her son’s death. “26 hours after my son died in the so called care of the Irish State in the form of Tusla, I have yet to receive any contact from Tusla or their representatives. I was informed by Gardai of my son’s death and later I spoke with the GAL. No contact from Tusla is unacceptable,” she raged.
