Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month! From September 15-October 15th, we celebrate the culture, history, and achievements of the U.S. Latinx communities. Over the years, U.S. Latinx communities have made major contributions to the U.S. Latinx folks fought for independence during the American Revolution (and were a vital part of the war effort during WWII), helped desegregate schools in California (through the Supreme Court case Mendez v. Westminster), and introduced Spanglish into our everyday vernacular. And thanks to Latinx, we have more delicious food thanks to tacos, arepas, enchiladas – the list of mouthwatering dishes never ends!

One major contribution the Latinx community has made is in literature. The literary US Latinx community has always been vibrant, and thanks to publishers highlighting more diverse voices, there are more amazing books to read than ever before!

With so many brilliant writers out there, it can be difficult to know where to start. Whether you prefer poetry, memoirs, YA or want to disappear into another world, there is a book penned by a Latina that’s out there for you.
