Blue Bottle Studio Opens in Kyoto

Following its 20th anniversary celebrations last year, James Freeman, the founder of Blue Bottle Coffee, has proposed a new Blue Bottle Studio expansion on top of the popular Blue Bottle Coffee location in Kyoto.

Within the cozy confines of a century-old Machiya house, guests can enjoy a menu inspired by the cafe culture that Freeman greatly influenced including rare single-origin coffees, signature blends, and complimentary sweets. Everything from the barista’s uniforms to brewing methods to cups has been meticulously curated.

In an intimate four-seater space on the second floor, guests can take a comprehensive “Blue Bottle Studio Coffee Course.” For a limited time, Blue Bottle Coffee founder James Freeman will also be visiting Kyoto to host a “Coffee Talk” from March 31 to April 3.

The Blue Bottle Studio experience is reservation-only at ¥8,250 JPY (approximately $63 USD) per head. Head over to the Blue Bottle Coffee website for more information.
