Oh, to be a fly on the wall at this family’s gatherings! Jason Momoa’s stepdaughter Zoë Kravitz is the new Catwoman, and the Aquaman star couldn’t wait to congratulate the latest superhero (or, in this case, antiheroine) in the Kravitz-Bonet-Momoa clan. The news of Kravitz’s casting broke early in the day on Monday, and it didn’t take long for her proud stepdad to make his way to social media to gush about how “freaking stoked” he is.
To recap, Kravitz is set to slip on the famous catsuit for Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman. Considering the hype already surrounding the film’s casting of Robert Pattinson in the title role, it’s safe to say that — with Kravitz now signed on as well — The Batman may be the most buzzed-about movie of 2019 so far. And Momoa just might end up being the film’s biggest hype man.
Shortly after news of Kravitz’s casting went public, Momoa shared a sweet photo of himself with Kravitz on Instagram. “I’m so proud of you zozo bear. On and off screen OHANA. DC WB ohana,” he gushed, referring to their connection as actual family members and their roles as DC Comics characters in Warner Bros. Animation movies. “Lola and Wolfies big sister is CAT WOMAN. Unbelievable so freaking stoked. You’re going to have so much fun.”
In a response guaranteed to give fans a serious case of feels, Kravitz commented, “LOVE YOU PAPABEAR! I love that aquaman and catwoman spend the holidays together from now on.”
Momoa isn’t the only one who thinks Kravitz has the right stuff to tackle such an iconic role. When asked by Variety what her thoughts are on Kravitz as Catwoman, Kidman hit the nail on the head, saying, “I think she’s the perfect anything. She’s pretty much the perfect woman, Zoë, right?” Kidman should know. Not only is she familiar with superhero franchises, as Momoa’s co-star in Aquaman, but she also knows Kravitz well. Kidman acted alongside Kravitz in HBO’s Big Little Lies and, on a personal level, spent time with Kravitz when Kidman dated Lenny Kravitz in the early ’00s.
So, Kravitz will surely get some pretty amazing advice going into this role. Our favorite to come forward so far, though, doesn’t come from Momoa or Kidman. “Make sure whilst designing the costume they consider how you’ll go to the bathroom,” original Catwoman Michelle Pfeiffer hilariously advised Kravitz via Good Morning America. “Minor detail, but an important one.”
