Jeffrey Deitch Los Angeles is currently showcasing Rammellzee: Gothic Futurism, a solo exhibition featuring the works of the late artist Rammellzee.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Rammellzee produced extensive bodies of works that span genres and mediums. After being mesmerized by the story of a medieval monk who developed an ornate script that was deemed so unreadable, it was banned by the high ranks. The story spoke to Rammellzee as proof that lettering can be used as a subversive and liberating art form, thus spurring his “Gothic Futurism” philosophy and “Ikonoklast Panzerism” artistic approach.
In the Rammellzee: Gothic Futurism exhibition, the collection is curated with an array of DIY sculptures, full-body suits of armor, and framed graffiti pieces all in the spirit of “Gothic Futurism.” Preview the exhibition in the gallery above.
Rammellzee: Gothic Futurism will be on view at Jeffrey Deitch Los Angeles until January 14, 2023.
