Like mother, like daughter! Kelly Ripa took daughter Lola Grace to a CNN gala on Sunday night, and the 18-year-old took a few fashion cues from her famous mom (or maybe vice versa?). The women rocked the red carpet on their adorable — and oh-so-New-York-City-style — mother-daughter date, stopping to pose for photos outside of the American Museum of Natural History.
The event, the 10th Annual CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute, was hosted by Anderson Cooper with a co-hosting assist from his longtime pal, Ripa. And since she had a “plus one,” Ripa put it to good use by bringing Lola along for the star-studded night. Even sweeter (and chic), though, the women opted for complementary ensembles. Ripa wore a sparkly black velvet dress by Balmain with embellished black heels. Lola went a similar route with a high-necked, long-sleeved mini-dress. She went with a navy silk number from Reformation, which she finished with white Off-White heeled booties.
Although the night undoubtedly served as a fun mother-daughter date, Ripa possibly also parlayed it into a teachable moment. After all, the entire evening centers on doing good for others — a lesson every mom wants their children to learn. “Always a privilege to honor everyday people making a difference in their communities,” Ripa wrote of the event in a throwback photo with Cooper she shared on Instagram ahead of the gala.
If Lola’s dress looks familiar, you must follow Ripa on social media. The teen also rocked the piece for the family’s Thanksgiving festivities. And while Ripa didn’t wear the black Balmain number that night, she did once again go for a high-necked number. ‘Tis the season, huh?
Although Ripa often jokes about her children attending college in the same city they grew up (and wishing, in general, her kids would actually leave the nest), it’s obvious Ripa relishes her time with Lola. In September, she shared a sentimental throwback photo of the two when Lola was little. “Happy #nationaldaughterday Lola,” Ripa captioned the pic. “I’m the luckiest to call you mine.”
