New Balance's New Made in UK R770 Model Gets a Patchy Makeover

One can make the argument that New Balance makes just as much noise when it unveils general releases as it does when it brings its collaborations to light, and that’s probably because of the the brand’s keen sense of manufacturing a smorgasbord of versatile options. The brand’s next act involves the reveal of its all-new Made in UK R770 — a low-profile lifestyle model that whose upper half is an amalgam of various New Balance silhouettes.

The first iteration that’s being readied for public distribution is this striking multi-colored installment. It’s foundation is anchored by deep navy blue mesh underlays and leather tongues, which in turn allow the accompanying accents to overtly stand out. 40% of the base layers are constructed from surplus stock materials such as pigskin, suede, nubuck, leather, mesh and synthetic materials. Overlays are slapped on in an abstract fashion from front to back, all of which provide various contrasting hues such as dark brown, beige, a salmon-esque orange, light gray, yellow and purple.

A limited amount of this specific variation is set to drop on May 8 via the New Balance web store for $180 USD.
