Nike Sportswear Kicks It Old School With the Dunk High 1985 "Acid Wash"

Blotted red and black patterns that give this high-cut Dunk its name appear on the mudguard, eyestays, heel and collar flaps. They’re contrasted by a weathered dark brown tone on the toeboxes, quarter panels and collars. Swooshes and heel tabs are done up in a simple red shade to provide a middle ground, and sky-high brown nylon tongues complete the top half with red laces and a retrofuturistic tongue tag. Down below, midsoles offer an “aged” sail look and red outsoles finalize the offering. The shoes even come packaged in a special Nike Sportswear box with plenty of VHS-esque retro graphics.

The Dunk High 1985 differs from the current Dunk High in a few major ways, starting with its uppermost reaches. Tongues are longer, and collars offer a sloping cut as opposed to the flat cut on the present-day model. Heels are also slightly curved inwards as they rise towards the collar, and midsoles are notably thicker. All these design cues are true to Nike Basketball‘s original 1985 Dunk, ensuring that the shoe earns its old skool moniker.

At the time of writing, the Nike Dunk High 1985 “Acid Wash” has yet to receive an official release date or retail price. However, it’ll likely arrive later this year.
