The Bachelor is big on people coming back after they’ve left the show, and Peter Weber’s season has already seen someone come back from the dead (cough, Alayah, cough). Well, the teaser trailer for Tuesday’s Bachelor finale part two definitely makes it seem like Madison Prewett is coming back into the picture, but fans on Reddit have a new theory that her return doesn’t happen as quickly as the latest teaser trailer makes it seem.
ICYMI: Madi left Peter seemingly heartbroken during the first part of the finale Monday night when she declared during their final date that they were just too different. She then self-eliminated and left in a waiting car. While it was Madison’s decision to leave, it was pretty clear that the whole thing wasn’t easy for her.
Fast-forward to the teaser trailer for Tuesday night’s episode, and it looks like Madison is coming back, maybe even during the final rose ceremony. At one point, she can be seen talking to Bachelor host Chris Harrison, who says, “So you regret what you did?” The answer: “Yeah.” Chris: “Are you in love with Peter?” Madison: [pause]. Madison can later be seen riding in a car as a voiceover from her(?) says, “My heart, to this day, has wanted Peter.” The drama!!!

Well, now there’s a theory from Bachelor fans on Reddit that Madi doesn’t come back for the final rose ceremony (as the trailer seems to suggest), but does pursue Peter after he’s already engaged to Hannah Ann Sluss, a.k.a. the last woman standing. (That engagement does happen during the final rose ceremony, according to Bachelor spoilers blogger Reality Steve.)
“What if after the show, MADI is the one who pursued peter?” one person wrote. “Then she asks for another chance and peter breaks up with hannah ann to be with her?” “Could he have proposed to Hannah Ann, and then not long after learned Madison changed her mind?” someone else said.
Other people think that Hannah Ann also leaves the show, leaving Peter all alone in the end. “I feel like dummy peter proposes to HA without telling her she’s all that is left (or she finds out with almost no notice). That’s why she dumps him. And the show wants a happy ending, and loves the drama with [Peter’s mom] Barb, so they chase Madi,” another person said.
What Bachelor Nation does know: Madi definitely filmed something with Bachelor producers in her hometown on February 11, 2020, long after the main filming of the show wrapped. That said, no one knows what it was (a goodbye message? Her showing that she’s cool without Peter RN? Her walking around looking all kinds of sad?), and neither Chris nor Peter wasn’t spotted during the filming.
Still, some fans think that’s exactly when the convo between Madi and Chris went down. “if Madi came back, Peter would’ve proposed to her 100%. the footage of Madi is definitely back in the states but I just can’t place the timeline,” one Reddit user wrote. “Probably the filming that happened in Auburn on Feb 11,” another person responded to them.
“if you listen to the preview, Chris Harrison actually says, ‘Peter doesn’t know I’m here.’ I’m pretty certain he went to talk to Madi in Auburn after HA and Peter broke up,” still another person commented. (Worth noting: It’s unclear that Chris actually said that.)
In his latest blog post, Reality Steve weighed in and said, “The Madison/Chris conversation happened post filming, and Madison does not show up to the final rose ceremony. Don’t let the editing deceive you.”
