Ex-model horrified to find her topless photos being sold on ‘eWhoring’ sites

A former glamour model has shared her story of becoming a victim of "eWhoring" after she found topless pictures of herself being sold for £11 a pack.

Jess Davies, now working as an influencer, modelled for magazines when she was 18 which included doing topless photoshoots but she had no idea her pictures were being stolen by scammers and used by dodgy websites.

Sharing her haunting story on BBC's documentary When Nudes Are Stolen, the now 27-year-old said that while she was looking further into how many of her pictures were being used online, she came across the term "eWhoring" – a more extreme version of catfishing using nude images.

Jess found an online community where people traded stolen pictures like Pokémon cards in forums and chat rooms.

She said: "I decided to post my own picture there to find out if my photos had been used in this way.

"Within two minutes, someone came back to me and said 'I have, but I can't give it to you for free'.

"He just says he wants a $15 (£11) Amazon gift card."

The man offered her a pack of 100 photos as a trade for the gift card.

"Seeing that message come through, I just feel gross that he recognised me," Jess continued.

"To know that my images are being sold on eWhoring sites for $15 a pack, I just think 'wow you're actually ruining my life for $15'.

"I think if you saw this happening in real life, in the market, people wouldn't believe it but because it's on the internet people don't care, it's fair game, it's actually your fault."

She even hired private investigator Laura Lyons to find out where her photos had been used online and she was shocked to find her pictures on a French escort website, sex chat and porn sites.

Laura suggested that part of the reason was because Jess had a mixture of relaxed, at-home pictures on her social media accounts that can be mixed in with the older glamour model pictures, which means it was easier to build a fully-rounded persona with them.
