Fans call Camila Cabello a Wednesday doppelganger as she debuts black shaggy hair

While we’re waiting for season two of Wednesday to drop on Netflix, we’re making do by keeping an eye out for Addams-style beauty transformations from stars who are keen to jump on the gothic glam beauty trend that the series started.

This week it’s the turn of Havana singer Camila Cabello, 26, who has just swapped her caramel-coloured tresses for a glossy black shade. Though she’s wearing her hair up in the new series of snaps posted to her Instagram grid, it looks like Camila has had a wolf cut along with the fresh colour. With a new shaggy fringe and front layers, the singer is being likened to Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega – and we can see why.

“At first I thought this was Jenna Ortega,” says one of Camila’s followers, while a second comments: “Jenna 2.0”.

A third writes: “You can’t tell me this is not Jenna”.

Though Jenna, 20, wore her hair in sleek pigtails or braids when she was filming for Wednesday, she’s since transformed her look with the help of a shaggy haircut – very similar to the one Camila is modelling today. Jenna unveiled the look on her Instagram grid back in December 2022, tagging in her hairstylistDavid Stanwell.

“Today we did a thang. Fresh cut for@jennaortega,” David captioned the first reveal snap.

At the time, fans were floored by the change to Jenna’s look, with plenty keen to find out what exactly to ask their own hairstylists for to get a similar mid-length, choppy look.

“What is this cut called? It looks great on her!” raved one, while another added: “This is giving “the Rachel” but make it emo. I love it.”

A third pleaded: “It's SOOOOO gorgeous!!! I love your work. Would you please tell me what the haircut is called?”

We now know the cut that both Jenna and Camila are wearing is a combination of an octopus and a wolf cut, defined by shaggy layering and a choppy fringe. This chop is actually the most popular in the world at the moment, with 942,500 average monthly searches for ‘wolf cut’. We can thank the likes of these two stars along with Miley Cyrus and Squid Games’ Jung Ho-yeon for their help in popularising the modernised mullet cut.
