Tesco has issued an urgent warning to customers who have bought cheese products from the retail giant, over fears they may contain Listeria monocytogenes.
The supermarket giant has now issued an urgent recall for Tesco Finest Taleggio 200g, with the use by date of January 25 2021.
Those who have bought packets of the cheese in question are urged not to eat them.
The recall notice read: “We are recalling Tesco Finest Taleggio cheese 200G,
with a use by date of 25 January 2021, due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the product.”
A customer notice reads: “Please do not consume this product, but return the affected product to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required."
Listeria monocytogenes can cause flu-like symptoms including high temperatures, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea, Mirror reports.
It can be very dangerous, especially for those over 65, pregnant women and babies less than one month old.
The supermarket apologised to customers for any “inconvenience” caused by the product recall.
If anyone is self-isolating, they can still contact Tesco Customer Services to arrange a refund.

Customers can contact customer services for any further details on 0800 505 555 in the UK or 1850 744 844 in the Republic of Ireland.
Tesco also have a number of other products being recalled at the moment.
Two of them are baby products, one of which is Cow & Gate My First Muesli 10+ months (330g), with best before end dates October 13 2021, December 20 2021 and January 4 2022.

The product is being recalled over fears it it may contain pieces of apple stalk.
Another product, Aptamil Oats, Raisin & Apple Bircher Muesli 10+ months (275g) 10+ months is being recalled for the same reason.
Products affected are the ones with best before end dates December 27 2021 and January 16 2022.
