Woman horrified as Hinge date rages at her for calling herself dog mum

A woman has shared how her date went disastrously wrong when she put one detail on her profile – that she is a "dog mum".

Kristen Beatty, who lives in Philadelphia, US, said she matched with a man living in the same building complex on dating app Hinge and they met up several times for drinks and meals.

On one date, she brought up the topic of "National Dog Mum Day", a day ahead of Mother's Day to celebrate the pet-loving mums taking care of their fur babies.

But, as she explained on TikTok, the conversation immediately took a turn for the worst.

"He went off, he was not having it," she said.

She then showed his text messages, which read: "Oh God, for real? I admire real mums. Parenting a human is 100x more rewarding than a pet.

"Did you put yourself in that category being a 'dog mum'?"

Kristen replied: "No one said it wasn't. This was just a fun thing. I own a dog, so yeah."

The man apparently stopped talking to her after, saying: "Bye, I find that childish."

But he then wrote again and vented his anger in a long text, saying: "Liberal individuals have the tendency to consider animals as humans.

"So when they have a pet they consider themselves a parent of that animal.

"Whereas conservatives and those who are moderate like myself do not have that kind of mentality."

Kristen calls it a "mansplaining moment" as the text continues: "If I had a pet, I do not consider myself a parent of that pet.

"Parenting to me has more meaning than that of a pet or animal. Liberals tend to give their pets a sense of purpose, almost like if they were a human.

"I don't think that way, I think my pet as a pet. It's not my child.

"Let me guess you put clothes on your dog? Have it sleep with you in bed? Think of it as your child? Clearly we won't get along."

Kristen says there's more messages after but she stopped reading and didn't respond to him anymore.

Many viewers said her date was overreacting and making the statement into something too political.

One said: "You have to parent a pet if you want to train it. But gaslighting and other red flags suggest narcissism."

Another wrote: "I'm a liberal and wouldn't be caught dead referring to myself as a dog mum. It's not related to politics whatsoever."
