Elvis Presley dated many women over his short lifetime and being such a huge star implemented requirements for new girlfriends to protect his privacy. When The King considered dating a woman, she would be vetted by his Memphis Mafia inner circle. But if they were lucky enough to be asked to be his girlfriend, there were three non-negotiable rules.

Mindi Miller dated Elvis between 1975-6 and before meeting The King remembered being asked about her family background and if she was “spiritual” like the star.

Now in a new interview with Elvis expert Billy Stallings Spa Guy, the 71-year-old has shared the three strict rules she was told to abide by if she was going to be The King’s new girlfriend.

Firstly, she was not to ask for pictures with the star. Mindi would not be allowed to go around Graceland snapping pictures of herself either. She was going to be The King’s girlfriend, not a fan.

Secondly, Mindi was not to promote herself through Elvis Presley’s name, talk about him or write a book about her time with The King.

She shared: “You do not talk about him. What happens at Graceland stays at Graceland. What happens in Vegas or the hotel or anywhere that you’re with him stays with you.

“You do not talk about that. He’s very private. If you’re going to be with him you’re not a fan otherwise he wouldn’t be with you.”

And thirdly, Mindi was asked to be present with Elvis and watch him at all times. She said: “If he got up in the middle of the night, and he didn’t sleepwalk and he wanted to watch TV or something to eat or whatever it was, watch him.

Two words: Watch him. I, unlike other girlfriends, didn’t consider it part of the job. It was a delight for me. He was my boyfriend. I didn’t look at him as Elvis Presley. I fell in love with the man I met.”

Mindi said how she didn’t fall in love with Elvis the singer, but Elvis the man.

The 71-year-old shared: “He was an incredible human being who made his living by being an entertainer.

“But I fell in love with him the private man. So when I got up with him I never took anything, I never took any pills.

“I wanted to be there present for him in that moment. Whatever he needed, so if he went to the bathroom, I got up with him.”

If Elvis wanted something to eat, Mindi would go downstairs to Graceland’s kitchen with him, or he’d call down for one of the maids to bring something up.

On hanging out in The King’s bedroom, she said: “Most of the time he wanted to read or study or read the Bible.

“Or we’d study our spiritual books which on my first date with him he gave me a ton of spiritual books which I will never sell.

“Things that he underlined in them, things that he wanted me to underline in them. This was sacred to me because this is who he was.”
