Inside Diana Dors explosive life – pals with Krays, affairs and sex parties

She was the “blonde bombshell” who was dubbed Britain’s answer to Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe.

This week Diana Dors would have celebrated her 90th birthday, but like her American movie double she died too soon after a roller-coaster life.

Here Daily Star reveals 15 fascinating facts about the curvy film beauty and singer…

Born Diana Mary Fluck in Swindon on October 23, 1931, her mum Mary was having an affair so couldn’t be sure dad Bert was her real father.

Later changing her name to Dors to help her film career, she once returned to the Wiltshire town to open a fete where a local vicar mispronounced her birth name as Doris Klunt.

Aged eight Diana vowed: “When I grow up, I’m going to be a film star and live in a big house with a swimming pool and a cream telephone.”

As a teenager during World War Two, she danced with American GIs, went to a private school and had elocution lessons helping her to land a place at drama school.

Trading her brown locks for blonde, Diana was soon modelling and picking up parts in movies. Propelled to sex symbol by her role as a beauty queen in Lady Godiva Rides Again, she also starred in 50s screen hits such as The Weak And The Wicked.

She boasted a luxury lifestyle, owning a sports car before she’d even passed her driving test and becoming the youngest registered owner of a Rolls-Royce at 20.

Her fame was helped by launching a book of raunchy 3D snaps, an explosive autobiography and sailing down a Venice canal in a fur bikini.

She released an album called Swingin’ Dors, made pals with the Krays and was on the cover of The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

In 1951 Diana married Dennis Hamilton, who beat her, stole her money and wrecked her chance of a Hollywood career by punching a photographer at a party in LA. They separated in 1958.

She had affairs with the likes of film star Rod Steiger and later married comedian Dickie Dawson. They had two sons – Gary and Mark – before she went bankrupt and divorced him. Diana married her final hubby, alcoholic actor Alan Lake in 1968 – father to another son Jason.

Over the years Diana hosted notorious celeb sex parties involving two-way mirrors. She once said: “I based my career on men, sex and money, in that order.”

Later life saw her take roles in saucy flicks such as The Amorous Milkman and appear in TV shows including The Two Ronnies as a sexy military commander.

She was also in Adam and the Ants music video Prince Charming, inset, and an agony aunt for the Daily Star!

Diana died of ovarian cancer at the age of 52 in 1984 near her Berkshire mansion, Orchard Manor. She’s since been played on screen by Keeley Hawes.

Before her death Diana claimed to have hidden £2million in banks and left behind a mysterious code, but the whereabouts remain a mystery.
