Kate Garraway’s mum was taken to hospital today, following a fall she had while at the beach.
Kate took to Instagram to share the news with her followers. In the post she said:=“Just when you thought (hoped!) I hadn’t had a new reason to thank the #nhs recently cue an unfortunate tumble from my mum on the way to the beach & and a broken foot and twisted ankle.”
The photo shows Kate’s mum sitting on the edge of the passenger seat of a red Peugeot, with a nurse in full PPE standing near her, as both appeared to be smiling at the camera.
The post racked up over 10,000 likes in an hour, with a flurry of fans and supporters offering their support and admiration for the Good Morning Britain star and her family.
Kate added in the caption: "Thanks to the typically wonderful #nhs team at #bodmin hospital and particularly wonderful Ruth we managed to get her booted and safely home for further treatment.
"You were all so kind – thank you so much. And thanks to @peugeotuk (again) for lending us a car with enough room for her to keep her leg stretched out for the whole journey (although it did mean my Dad was relegated for the first time ever to the back seat , where he really enjoyed defining the expression “back seat driver”!!!)."
Newsreader and GMB colleague Charlotte Hawkins commented, “Oh no, your poor mum! Sending love xx”
While one Instagram user sweetly wrote, “You just cannot defeat Garraway or Draper power – a force to be reckoned with -speedy recovery to Kate’s Mum x”
The GMB star has had many reasons to be thankful to the NHS recently.
Kate’s husband Derek Draper, 53, was admitted to hospital with Covid-19 in March 2020. Admitted to an intensive care unit, Derek was in a coma until the summer and remained in hospital for the rest of the year.
In the moving documentary Finding Derek which aired on ITV earlier this year, Kate was seen getting the family home adapted to cater to Derek’s new needs.
Moving the bedroom downstairs and renovating various areas of the house, Kate was desperate for Derek to return home.
Derek returned home in April of this year, where Kate takes care of him.
