Michael Jackson was constantly under the spotlight. Whether he was performing at one of his sold out concerts, or just walking down the street, the King of Pop was unfortunately followed everywhere. This meant that every time he left the house with his children, he was followed by cameras and paparazzi.
Over the course of the year, as his children grew up, Jackson managed to begin hiding his children’s faces.
Every time they stepped outside the kids were either given a huge mask or some sort of garment to cover their faces.
This gave Jackson the peace of mind needed to allow his children to do normal things like go to school and go out for a day of fun.
Now, Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, has spoken out about this unusual practice on her brand new Facebook Watch series Unfiltered: Paris Jackson & Gabriel Glenn.

Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris says he ‘loved playing dress up’
Speaking about the reasoning behind the masks, Paris explained: “When he was young, he would be in the studio and he’d look outside and he’d see kids on the playground and he couldn’t do that.
“He didn’t want that for us, so we wore masks.”
Paris explained that this allowed her and her siblings – Prince and Blanket – to live a bit more of a normal life.
“I appreciated it,” she went on. “It was nice.
“Because we were able to go to Chuck E. Cheese and Circus Circus and we were normal.”
Going on to speak about her own experience in front of the press, she explained: “For a long time I was just against letting the world in because I was just too scared to do it.
“I have had to accept the fact that I do not and probably will never have a private life.”
This isn’t the first time Paris has opened up about her father on her show.

In recent weeks Paris has also spoken out about the Jackson legacy, and how she feels as if she needs to contribute to it.
Speaking directly to the camera to explain her point of view, Paris said: “As a teenager, I wouldn’t really allow myself to be a musician, if that makes sense.
“I played guitar and I sang, and I wrote songs from a young age.
“But it wasn’t until I met Gabe [Gabriel, Paris’ boyfriend] that I started calling myself a musician.”

Referencing her family legacy directly, Paris said: “Everyone in my family does music. I mean, I’m a Jackson.
“It makes sense that I’m a musician but like… a Jackson doing folk indie?”
Paris later added: “It feels good to know that people will … see me as I am. This is the first opportunity I’ve been able to share my journey in my own way.”
