Naga Munchetty to check her texts after learning meaning of Netflix and chill

Naga Munchetty could not believe her ears when she learnt the true meaning of 'Netflix And chill' – and admitted she needs to check her texts.

The BBC Breakfast host was presenting a segment on popular sayings on her BBC Radio 5 Live show when she made the shocking discovery – having previously been sure it just meant "chill out".

Talking to special guest and lexicographer and podcaster Terry Victor, Naga was stunned when she learned that the saying had other connotations and wasn't just literal.

She exclaimed: "Oh my goodness! Oh, so it's like a date? Or a booty call?"

Terry responded: "It's like a booty call. I think that's the way you put it. A booty call."

Naga replied: "I'm coming away from this conversation more confused than I ever was. And I'm also going to be really careful about inviting someone to watch a film with me."

Following the segment, Naga continued to express her amazement as she chatted to Radio 5 senior journalist Dan Maudsley.

She said: "You learnt something there didn't you Dan?"

The surprised newsreader then confessed that he also felt pretty clueless about the popular saying in the dating world.

He said: "I was not aware of the extra connotations around Netflix and Chill and now I'm worrying about how I've used that expression in the past. Things like that haunt me."

Naga then admitted that she thought it was time to check through her messages and see who she may have inadvertently been sending booty calls to.

She quipped: "I'm going to have to look through my texts and see who I've invited to come over."

Dan interjected: "Hi Mum."

Naga then admitted that her mum could well have been the subject of one of her invites as she added: "Yeah. Mum I could cope with, mum would be no problem, it's the other people."
