As the new series of Celebrity Help My House Is Haunted hits our screens, Daily Star takes a look at some of the celebs – both on and off the programme – who claim to have encountered paranormal activity at home.

Toyah Wilcox

Toyah Willcox featured on the first series of Discovery's Celebrity Help My House is Haunted, after revealing she had been terrorised by a violent ghost.

She even added that pal and Coronation Street star Rula Lenska had come face to face with the spirits, saying in the programme: "Rula was down in the cellar and she could hear children screaming and she passed out. When she came around, she said she was surrounded by children.”

A paranormal team were called to investigate her Worcestershire home as part of the programme, where it emerged the property is haunted by a ghost called George, who is thought to be a soldier who fought during the English civil war in the 1600s.

In the footage, investigator Barry Ghai can even be seen saying that he felt he was being choked, commenting: "F** scared the s*** out of me.

"Something just grabbed my windpipe. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t get a breath in. That’s what scared me. I thought I was gonna die."

However, Toyah revealed that the team 'released the energy' from the home, with the star adding: "I wouldn’t want something stuck here — I like to think that anything around is with us out of choice."

Kerry Katona

Atomic Kitten star and TV personality Kerry Katona has claimed that her home was haunted by an evil ghost.

Speaking with OK! the singer and TV personality claimed that she was once visited at her home by a ghost – leading her to call in a paranormal activity team.

They revealed to Kerry the name of the spirit – and also a harrowing reason for the ghost's presence.

She said: "We had a paranormal activity team at our house. It was about six years ago.

"They told us there was a man in the house called John and he wanted us to leave – and that he wanted my son Max."

Kerry also admitted that she has experienced paranormal activity throughout her life and that she is a believer in all things spiritual, adding: "I’ve had this all my life, but the lights in the house constantly turn on and off.

"It happened in my old house and it’s been happening here, too. My bedroom is like a bloody disco!"

The Osbournes

Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne's children Jack and Kelly claimed that they experienced paranormal activity at their British home when they were children.

Jack, who has since launched his own paranormal investigation series including Portals To Hell, explained on the Discovery+ special Jack Osbourne's Haunting Homecoming that he encountered the activity when he was off school sick with his sister.

The siblings heard sounds in their Grade II listed home, which was formerly a hospital for the mentally ill, and they became "convinced" that someone – or something – was coming to attack them.

Jack can be heard saying in the programme: "When Kelly and I were kids, we were off school through illness and home alone. We were watching TV in my parents’ bedroom.

"The floorboard on that landing makes a very distinct sound and we heard someone walking along – very heavy-footed."

He adds: "Whatever was making those footsteps was rattling the cupboard doors along the corridor. We were so convinced the footsteps were coming for us, we opened a window and thought about jumping."

They subsequently hid under their parent's bed until their mother Sharon returned home.

That's not all, as their famous rock star father Ozzy Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne claimed that his and Sharon's Beverly Hills mansion is "filled with evil", after he saw a shadowy apparition in the corner of their bedroom.

Speaking on their Discovery+ TV show, The Osbournes Want To Believe, Ozzy claimed that mystery figure haunts him in bed, saying: "This house I am living in now I get some peculiar feelings in this f***ing place.

"I really do. I think something heavy has happened in this house, a murder or something bad."

However, Sharon is less convinced about the hauntings and said the ghosts would have to make a bigger impact if she was going to believe.

"He [Ozzy] woke up saying a figure in the bedroom and he could see somebody in the bedroom.

"No, I could not see it. He was like ‘look over there.’ There was nobody there.”

She added: "It would have to sing and dance and perform in front of me to believe."

Martin Roberts

Homes Under The Hammer host Martin Roberts had to call the Help My House Is Haunted team to his welsh farmhouse, after he began encountering paranormal activity.

The investigation featured in series of one of Celebrity Help My House Is Haunted on Discovery+, where Martin explained that unusual activity began occurring during renovation work on the home.

"It's the oldest property that I've ever owned, and you think 1650 when it was built – this house has lived through so much history.

"Eventually we started the renovation work and we have a team of builders that I brought up here.

"The apprentice had to change bedrooms because he was trying to sleep in there and all sorts of things were going on – lights flickering on and off – he apparently vacated the room very quickly and thereafter refused to go back into that room."

During the course of the investigation, a local historian said that an apparition of a grey lady is often seen in the area, with the team capturing activity such as a figure appearing on an SLS camera screen, Barry Ghai seeing a shadow figure on the stairs and picking up a range of voices and sounds.

Speaking about the home, Martin added: "I would say the house definitely has energy – I'm pretty convinced that there is a spirit here, and hopefully it knows that I'm its friend.

"I'm not about kicking out a spirit that's living here in peace and has got some history with the place – I'm a custodian of this place for a relatively short period of time but I am doing my bit while I'm here."

Jennifer Aniston

Friends icon Jennifer Aniston revealed on The Late Late Show with James Corden that an apartment that she used to live in was haunted.

When the actress first moved to Los Angeles, she said that unusual things began happening in her apartment.

"All of the sudden things started to [happen]. This dishwasher would start to go, or the coffee maker would start to go, or the stereo would just turn on at full volume. And it was terrifying," said Jennifer.

After she called in an expert to help "clear the house", Jennifer was told what the problem was.

"[The ghost] hated my roommate.

"I moved out. I feel terrible, but I couldn't say, 'It doesn't like you.' I mean that would be terrible."

Holly Madison

In 2021, paranormal team Ghost Adventures investigated the home of TV personality and former Playboy bunny Holly Madison.

The model shared some of her paranormal experiences with the Ghost Adventures team, including seeing a dark mass in an upstairs room and the bedroom door opening by itself at night.

Speaking in the episode, Holly told lead investigator Zak Bagans: "As soon as I bought it, I started hearing strange noises that I couldn't explain.

"Say if it was upstairs, I would hear a sound that sounded like something really heavy fell down in the kitchen, and I would go look and nothing fell down."

She added: "I would be asleep in the middle of the night and my door would burst open, and it would be loud enough that it would wake me up in the middle of the night."

Holly went on to explain other activity she had experienced, such as voices, saying: "It sounded like someone was standing right behind and was right in my ear, and they said hello, and it freaked me out so bad and I was so scared."

After the shocking revelations from Holly and Bridget, the team set about investigating the home for any evidence of paranormal activity.

From unexplained knocking to loud crashing sounds, their investigation escalated further still, with the team capturing the sounds of footsteps by Holly's bedroom.

After capturing a range of evidence, the Ghost Adventures team concluded that Holly's home may be haunted by a former owner, with Zak Bagans telling People magazine: "We were able to research a name of the owner, who we discovered had other eerie connections to evidence we received."

He added: "All of it made me realise just how brave she is."

Ashley Roberts

Radio presenter and Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts recently revealed that she grew up in a haunted home – and that she encountered a variety of paranormal activity.

During a chat with Guilty Pleasures, she revealed that she experienced "wild things," including lights turning themselves on and off, as well as cabinets opening and closing.

That's not all, as she also explained that a plumber fixing a toilet at their home fled and "left his tool belt because he was so scared."

The TV personality also had a paranormal encounter with fellow Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt while on tour in Italy, saying: "I hear her running down the hallway because she was so scared, she didn’t want to sleep alone.

"It was the same thing, cabinets opening and closing."

Matthew McConaughey

Hollywood hunk Matthew McConaughey revealed in 2009 that a menacing spirit once lived in his Hollywood home.

During a press interview for his film Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, he shared a story about a spirit called Madame Bleu, who he said he had to "stand up to".

"She wasn't that happy, it didn't seem like she was going to be much fun to hang around or have in my house, so I went ahead and stood my ground," Matthew told People.

"I opened the door and said, 'You can move around all you want but I'm not going anywhere."

The star continued to add that it was not only him who experienced the paranormal activity in the home either, adding: "For weeks everyone that came to the house said the same thing: 'There's someone down in that hall, there's somebody down in that hall.' "
