A Place in the Sun buyer bursts into tears after finding flaw with property

A Place in the Sun got emotional when a guest fell in love with a property only to burst into tears after discovering a serious issue.

In Thursday's episode of the Channel 4 show (July 8) that first aired in 2018, Paul and Bev were looking for a new permanent home in Spain's Torrevieja with property expert Jean Johansson.

They were not particularly impressed with the first three properties, but were blown away with number four which Paul said was "practically perfect in every way".

On the market for £104,000, the three-bedroom townhouse in Ciudad Quesada had two bathrooms, a front and rear balcony, a covered terrace, and a communal pool in the shape of a guitar.

An excited Bev told Jean it was "better and better" the more they looked around.

Paul said: "It's a lovely, lovely house. I'd call it a Mary Poppins house it is practically perfect in every way. It's really good."

Jean was absolutely thrilled and said: "Call me Mary Poppins!"

She then asked: "Is it a place where you could see yourself living?"

Paul replied: "It's a big possibility. We do have one concern. It's only the land they will be building on, thirty properties could take, I don't know how long," he said as he pointed to a housing development just across the road.

Jean said: "I wish I could give some guarantees on this land but I just can't. It's unpredictable."

At this, Bev started crying and Jean put her arm around her to try and console her.

"I'm really upset," she began as she became overwhelmed by her tears and couldn't speak.

"You just really like this house don't you?" said Jean in sympathy.

At the end of the episode, Paul and Bev revealed they were not able to get the property out of their minds and they enlisted a Spanish solicitor to try and find out more about the prospective building site.

They did not learn anything new, and so they went ahead anyway and made an offer which was accepted.
