Alison Hammond was left feeling a little flustered following a wardrobe mishap on Friday's This Morning, when her glass of water ended up splashed across her front.

The show's introduction saw The Irish Guard serenade viewers in melodic scenes, as Alison and Dermot watched from the studio.

Suddenly, the cameras panned to the This Morning hosts, only for Alison to reveal she'd spilt her water everywhere.

Watching the military officials sing, she tried to drink a sip of water, but with her attention diverted, she missed her mouth.

"That was absolutely lovely," said Alison. "Can I just quickly apologise?

"I’ve just dropped a lot of water down my dress and I’m so sorry."

"You got very excited," Dermot remarked, laughing at the water stain down the front of Alison's beautiful lime green gown.

"I heard them playing and then I was drinking and I missed my mouth," Alison explained.

Dermot weighed in: "ou’ve always been a sucker for a brass section. It’s 100% water."

Issuing an apology, she added: "So sorry about this. Good morning and sorry about this mess."

The former Big Brother star, who became a regular Friday host earlier this year, explained the incident occurred "just seconds" before the cameras switched on.

Watching from home, one tickled viewer wrote: "This is soooo me! LOLLLL love Alison not even a minute in & she's messed up her top!"

And Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley penned: "Have to say how STUNNING and BEAUTIFUL does @AlisonHammond look on today's @thismorning she honestly radiates…..we need more Alison's in this world PLEASE goodness inside and out."

Dermot was equally impressed by the musical performance from the Irish Guards, explaining they were performing in honour of Armed Forces Week.

Later, Josie Gibson met with members of the navy to mark the annual event, which celebrates the contribution of the whole Armed Forces community, from regular personnel to reservists, cadets and veterans and the families that support them.
