Anne Hathaway looks terrifying with giant fangs as she's transformed for Roald Dahl's The Witches

ANNE Hathaway looks absolutely terrifying in the new behind-the-scenes trailer, as she’s transformed into the Grand High Witch from Roald Dahl’s famous book.

The actress is seen with huge, jagged fangs and a freakishly wide smile that is sure to scare a whole new generation of fans.

Sharing the short trailer with her 18.5 million or so Instagram followers, the 37-year-old actor introduces the clip by telling viewers, “here’s the thing you need to know about witches, they’re real. They’re here and they’re amongst us.”

Looking completely unrecognisable in the short vid, the Academy Award winning actress is joined by co-stars Octavia Spencer, Jahzir Kadeem, and Stanley Tucci.

Set to be released ahead on 22nd October, the movie is a remake of the classic 1990s film of the same name, which in turn is based on Roald Dahl’s incredible story.

Anne, who has previously starred in The Devil Wears Prada and The Princess Diaries, will be stepping into the rather large shoes of original Grand High Witch Anjelica Huston.

The 1990s film gave a generation of children nightmares for years and this version looks set to do the same thanks to freakishly good CGI and prosthetics.

Sharing the clip, which features a few teasers from the forthcoming film, Hathaway and her co-stars reveal how you can spot a witch along with clips showing them in their true and disgusting form.

The cast explains the characteristics of a witch and how they can be identified, one being their “larger nostrils”, shown by the Grand High Witch who is seen sniffing lavishly.

Viewers are then treated to Anne Hathaway’s wide smile “that spreads all the way to their ears”, along with rows of sharp and pointed teeth.

How the remake will compare to the 90s edition remains to be seen but we can’t wait to see Hathaway step out of her usual role and into one as creepy and evil as the Grand High Witch.
