Bill Moseley on the 'Long Journey' to Make Rob Zombie's 'Devil's Rejects' Followup '3 From Hell' (Exclusive)

What can you expect from the movie? “A lot of gratuitous violence,” promises the actor.

It’s been nearly 15 years since horror fanatics witnessed Otis Driftwood, Baby Firefly and Captain Spaulding go out in a hail of bullets in the bloody finale of "The Devil’s Rejects."

While their survival sure seemed unlikely, they’re all back in theaters tonight for the sequel, "3 from Hell," Rob Zombie’s third film in the Firefly trilogy which began with the release of "House of 1,000 Corpses" back in 2003.

And star Bill Moseley is beyond excited its release is finally here.

According to the actor, talk about a third movie began two years ago at a vegan restaurant in Los Angeles. "Rob said we’re getting the band back together," he explained, saying the meeting consisted of him, Zombie, the director’s wife and costar Sheri Moon, and Sid Haig.

"We were all very excited about that," he said when TooFab caught up with him at opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. "It took about a year to finally get to shooting it and that was about a year ago, it’s been a long journey. Of course, ‘Devil’s Rejects’ was 2005, so it’s been 14 years and very excited that it’s finally coming out Monday night."

The movie will only be in roughly 900 theaters for three nights from September 16-18, before dropping on VOD in October. Fathom Events is hosting the screenings — get more info here.

While "House of 1,000 Corpses" had more of a cartoonish vibe, "Devil’s Rejects" shared the gritty feel of "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" as Otis, Baby and the killer clown ran from the law and graphically took out more than a few innocent bystanders along the way.

What can fans expect with the latest movie? "A lot of gratuitous violence," promised Moseley.

"A great and compelling story. Wonderful performances," he added. "[With] Rob, the movie always looks great, so it’s gonna be a real class A entertainment for all your horror fans out there. Not everyone’s gonna like it, because it is full of gratuitous violence and crazy stuff."

"It’s absolutely a real Rob Zombie movie," he added.

While "3 From Hell" gives Mosely a chance to step back in Otis’ shoes, there’s another role from his past he’d love to revisit too: Chop-Top from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2."

"I’m itching to play Chop-Top again," he told TooFab. "I think that plate would be a lot bigger, a lot of scratching!"
