Bradley Cooper reveals he 'got held up at KNIFEPOINT' in NYC & details the traumatic incident calling it ‘insane'

BRADLEY Cooper revealed he was “held up at knifepoint” in New York City while on his way to pick up his daughter Lea, 4, from school.

While detailing the traumatic experience, the 46-year-old actor said he thought he was going to be asked for an autograph or photo, not have a knife shoved at him.

As this week’s guest on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Bradley shared that he quickly realized he’d gotten “way too comfortable” in NYC when he found himself being help up at knifepoint at a subway station.

Of the late 2019 incident, he said: “I used to walk around New York City all the time with these [headphones] on, this was pre-pandemic, and I was on the subway [at] 11:45 to pick up Lea downtown at Russian school.

“And I got held up at knifepoint. It was pretty insane. I realized I had gotten way, way too comfortable in the city.

Bradley said his “guard was down” as he hung out by the end of the subway platform, which is where he usually wait.

“I felt somebody coming up,” he said. “I thought, ‘Oh they want to take a photo or something,’ and as I turned, I’m up against the post like it’s the French Connection or some s**t, and I turned, I looked down and I see a knife.”

In shock from it all, the A Star is Born actor recalled just thinking how the three-inches-long knife looked “nice,” like it had “some history,” before coming to terms with the situation he was in.

The scary experience was also a cinematic one of sorts for him, as he could barely hear what was going on around him or if the alleged perpetrator was saying anything because he was listening to music.

He explained: “So, it’s scored, the whole thing was scored. I can’t remember [what I was listening to].

“I look up, I see the person’s eyes, and I’m taken by how young they are.”

Recovering quickly from his surprise by everything happening, Bradley said he elbowed the guy and his knife away from him and ran as fast as he could, hopping over the turnstile on the way out.

Before he got too far away, he said he “hid” by the entrance so that he could take a few photos of the guy who allegedly held him up.

The Alias alum said: “He jumped over, running away. I took a photo of him. Then I chased him up the stairs.

“He started running up 7th Avenue. I took two more photographs of him.

“I ran down two police officers in an SUV, showed them the photograph and I’m, like, talking to them, and the guy kept saying, it was so interesting, he’s like, ‘Are you stabbed?’

“I was like, ‘No, no.’ He was like, ‘Check to see if you’re stabbed.’

“What happens is people get stabbed and they’re in shock. I looked to see if he was right… and then I got back on the subway and picked up my daughter.”

Bradley shares his four-year-old daughter Lea with ex Irina Shayk.

The couple ended their relationship in mid-2019 as he focused on his career and the two spent copious amounts of time apart.

That year, a source told People" "They were living totally separate lives. If he was in L.A., she’s out of town, and if she was in town, he was out of town."

Rumors recently started circling that the two might be back together after photos showed them walking together in NYC earlier this month.

They were seen walking arm-in-arm in a park, and while neither have confirmed whether the rumors are accurate, fans are wondering if their romance may have been rekindled.
