Britney Spears posts throwback photo of ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake after he apologized for breakup comments

BRITNEY Spears posted a throwback photo with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake.

The pic comes after he apologized for his comments about their breakup.

Yesterday, Britney shared a throwback photo in honor of her sister's, Jamie Lynn, 30th birthday.

The snap showed Britney, Jamie Lynn and Justin Timberlake together, and she captioned the belated birthday post: "Happy belated birthday to this beautiful soul !!! I love you so much and damn it I wish I was as smart as you at 30 !!!! It's weird to say that I was basically your momma when you were younger and yes I'm still older but your soul is and always has been wise !!!!

"I’m truly and genuinely inspired by your path and the life you have created for your beautiful children and I'm so fucking proud to call someone as beautiful inside as you my sister !!!! And not only are you a beautiful soul you're so DAMN STRONG …

"I was extremely taken back and still am to this very day !!! We play wrestled at home (such classy Southern chicks) and you put me to the floor in literally two seconds after I gave all my might … I’ll never forget it !!! Maybe we should have a rematch… I mean things have changed since 6 years ago !!!!! PS I wish I was as strong as you and happy birthday !!!!"

In February, Britney's team responded to Justin apologizing to both her and Janet Jackson for his past actions, in which he admitted he "contributed to the problem" of misogyny.

Justin, 40, had been criticized for his nasty treatment of Britney, 39, in the aftermath of their 2002 breakup, which was brought to fans' attention in the new documentary Framing Britney Spears.

A source close to Britney's team said: “Justin truly hurt Britney and continued to behave recklessly for years, so his sudden apology has made little to no difference in her world. Decades have passed and she has put that time in her life behind her."

The insiders added “Her team feels like his very public apology was in his best interest rather than a sincere gesture toward Britney.

The insider also said Britney had still yet to watch the documentary, and her team tries to keep her away from any "unnecessary" scrutiny or pain.

"For the most part Britney is indifferent to Justin, she wants to move forward and grow but the past keeps haunting her.

"Her team wants her to avoid any unnecessary public scrutiny and pain. They basically have put up walls to protect her from just this type of attention.

"Unfortunately, because of the documentary, the information seems to be seeping in through her social media and through the chatter online. But she still has no plans to watch it.

“He has had years to apologize to her about this behavior and he never attempted to get in touch with her and say 'I am sorry.' We made it through the Me Too movement and not a word. His timing is telling."

Justin had written in an apology: "I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefitted from a system that condones misogyny and racism.

"I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed."

Justin and Britney dated from 1998-2002.

He's been married to Jessica Biel since 2012, and they share sons, Silas, six, and Phineas, one.

Britney and Sam Asghari have been dating for about three years.
