MARIA Connor discovers something surprising about Fiz Stape’s boyfriend Phill next week in Coronation Street.
Fiz recently picked Phill over her ex-husband Tyrone, who had begged for her to take him back after he cheated with Alina Pop.
Next week, Gary reveals that the council are planning to bulldoze the playing fields at the Red Rec to make way for a new road.
Maria complains to Sally, who promises to find out what she can.
However, when Sally fails to come through, Maria meets up with a reporter from the Gazette.
Later, Maria organises a demonstration outside the council building with the support of Ken, Daniel, Aggie, Roy and Mary.
She’s shocked when Phill arrives and reveals that he’s on the planning committee.
Meanwhile, Craig arrives at the demonstration and orders the protestors to stand aside.
Chris from the Gazette arrives and Maria offers another exclusive.
Phill then emerges from his meeting and tells Maria he’d like to buy her a coffee.
It’s not all good news, however, as Sally later announces that she too is going to stand in the local council elections.
Maria is dismayed to realise she’s got a big fight ahead of her.
In the Rovers, Fiz and Phill offer Maria their full support with her council campaign.
