EastEnders fans work out which soap stars will appear on Strictly Come Dancing

EastEnders fans could certainly be in for a treat as they've worked out which star could be appearing on Strictly Come Dancing this winter.

Fans of the BBC soap are known to quickly go into overdrive when a character announces a break from Walford and many appear to have figured out which actor has a free window in their schedule.

While no official celebrity lineup for Strictly has yet been released, the professional dancers have all been unveiled, with hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman reprising their roles on the show.

The 20th season of the fan favourite is expected to return on the weekend of September 10, with the pre-filmed episode which sees celebs paired up with their dancers recording on September 7.

Taking to an online forum, one clever fan has worked out which actors may be free to appear due to their departure from EastEnders or previous interest.

According to the social media user, the likes of Toby-Alexander Smith are "very likely" to participate having already left Albert Square.

They added: "Dayle Hudson (Peter Beale), left the show this summer, Ricky Champ (Stuart Highway), leaving the show this year.

"Barbara Smith (Dana Monroe), leaving the show this year, Maddy Hill (Nancy Carter), left show this summer."

Elsewhere, they eagle-eyed fans claimed Lorraine Stanley (Karen Taylor), could be a potential suiter having expressed an interest in the show back in December 2021.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Lorraine said: "I'd love to do it [Strictly] – but I just wouldn't want to be the Anne Widdecombe, I've got some moves, definitely, so I'd like to give it a go."

Meanwhile, another fan has broken down the speculation, adding: "Toby-Alexander Smith – good shout, no jobs booked, kid to support.

"Ricky Champ (Stuart Highway) –no, booked for panto this year. Maddy Hill – doubtful as shy/reality TV averse. Tanya Franks (Rainie Highway)– no, she's got a theatre role booked.

"Jamie Borthwick (Jay Brown) – no chance, (a) big story coming up and reality TV averse. Max Bowden – probably not due to upcoming storyline.

"Charlie Brooks (Janine Butcher) – she won't do it again/big Christmas story coming up."

The Janine actress previously won the 2011 Christmas edition of Strictly Come Dancing alongside her partner Vincent Simone.

BBC bosses announced the new series saying: "The stunning 20th series returns, bringing glamour and show-stopping dancing back to Saturday nights on BBC One – and we're extremely excited to be able to welcome an audience back to the studio for this year's shows.

"Hosted by the very talented and glamorous Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the show will once again come live from Elstree Film and Television Studios."
