Mark Dolan hosted GB News on Monday evening and welcomed Talk Radio host Jon Gaunt onto the programme. The pair discussed a recent clash between LBC presenter Steve Allen and Strictly Come Dancing star Tilly Ramsay. Steve has been forced to apologise after describing Tilly as a “chubby little thing” live on air. However, when Mark and Jon debated the matter on GB News the pair had an explosive disagreement.

Radio presenter Steve came under fire when he criticised Tilly’s appearance.

Chatting about the 19-year-old on his radio show, he remarked: “She can’t blimming well dance, I’m bored with her already.

“She’s a chubby little thing, isn’t she? Have you noticed? Probably her dad’s cooking, I should imagine,” he added.

After hearing the critical comments about her appearance, Tilly swiftly took to Instagram to hit out at Steve.

“I won’t tolerate people that think it’s okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone’s weight and appearance,” she wrote in a statement.

On Monday evening Mark and Jon discussed the clash on GB News, but it appeared the two had very differing opinions on the situation.

Jon insisted: “This is nothing to do with Gordon Ramsay, Tilly is a person in her own right, she’s a woman of 19-years-old.

“I just think also when it comes to Steve he should be a bit quiet really shouldn’t he? He’s got a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

“So, he doesn’t need to be throwing out insults but, it was meant to be a joke.

“He could have apologised a lot quicker, but when you go on to the big subject of fat-shaming it depends.

“Listen, I was a type two diabetic for 15 years and I wish my doctor had said ‘You’re too fat, lose some weight’,” the radio host remarked.

“If he’d told me that 15 years ago I’d be further down the road, as it was I had to find out for myself,” he added.

Jon went on to explain why he didn’t think Steve’s comments about Tilly were appropriate.

He said: “This is a young woman and as a father of two young women, I don’t think it’s for men to decide what a woman should look like.”

Mark teased the radio presenter: “Seriously, Jon Gaunt’s gone woke! The world’s gone mad!”

However, Jon furiously hit back: “That’s not woke! Listen, that’s not woke, that’s not woke!

“No man has a right to describe what they think about a woman or what the ideal woman is Mark.

“That’s not woke, that’s pure common sense and that’s pure decency. He’s an old man talking about a 19-year-old, get over yourself,” he fumed.

However, many GB News viewers on Twitter disagreed with Jon and instead defended the comments Steve made about Tilly.

This tweet leaves a funny taste in my mouth, can you find a positive one? if not on the gb news thread just search for tilly on twitter. @PolitiCox1958 wrote: “We aren’t telling her what she ‘should’ look like, just what she ‘does’ look like.”

“They’re not remarks I would make but Steve Allen has always made comments like this – and he makes them about men and women. Nothing to do with patriarchy or anti-women sentiment or whatever these people – sadly some of them conservative – were claiming,” @James46888 said.
