Hollyoaks filming in chaos as star gets stuck in Ibiza after air traffic control meltdown | The Sun

HOLLYOAKS filming has been plunged into potential chaos after one of the stars got stuck in Ibiza.

Thousands of travellers were affected by a major traffic control failure on Monday.

One of those who ended up stuck abroad was Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe, who is currently in Ibiza.

Jen, 39, flew to the White Island with former co-star Leah Hackett last week but took to Instagram to reveal her return travel plans had been put on hold.

Posting a clip of her view of the beach she wrote: "Supposed to be in the air right now."

The actress also asked fans for advice, writing: "Is anyone at Ibiza airport? What's the situation with Ryanair flights to the UK?"

Many are still stranded after Monday's air traffic control failure, with experts warning of knock-on disruption as planes and crews were left in the wrong places.

According to The Sun's travel editor, the issue "could not have come at a worse time" and disruption will likely continue into the week.

Lisa Minot said: "This is actually the busiest weekend since October 2019.

"The fact that it has gone on for so long means this is going to definitely start to impact flights all the way into next week."

Jen has played Mercedes McQueen in Hollyoaks since 2006.

She recently opened up to The Sun about the possibility of Mercedes being killed off.

"If that's what they want to do? I mean, [if] that's what they want to do with me, Cest la vie," Jen said.

"I'm okay with that. If that's what they wanted, then that'd be the right decision for the show. But this year I'm staying."
