ITV Love Islands Sammy Root addresses romance rumours after Jess Harding split

Sammy Root thought he had found the one on Love Island but just months after the ITV show came to an end, he and Jess announced they had split.

Speaking to OK! on the blue carpet for ITV's Palooza, Sammy revealed he had been working "flat out" and is working on himself following his break-up.

"Yeah, it's been flat out, but I like to keep myself busy anyway, so, yeah, just been having a lot of fun.

Enjoying my new life really," he told us.

On whether he stayed in touch with any of the islanders, Sammy added: "I mean a lot of the boys from my season are in the group chat together.

"And then there's another one with a few boys from previous seasons and yeah, I mean, everyone chats all the time, we're just boys."

When pressed on if he's dating again, Sammy assured us: "No, I'm keeping myself very just working on myself. It's still very soon from Jess.

"So, yeah, just just working on Sammy at the minute and just enjoying life, really."

Sammy would have had to avoid an awkward run-in with Jess on the blue carpet with his former partner looking absolutely incredible in a black cut out gown.

Jess opted for a figure-hugging frock, which featured a thigh-high split and cut out detailing across her chest.

She also showcased her figure with cut-out detailing at the waist, while the gown also featured one long sleeve.

She accessorised with silver pointed court shoes and a matching metallic bag adding an extra touch of glam.

Her blonde locks were loose in luscious curls, while she opted for lashings of dark eye liner and peachy lip gloss.

Jess appeared to have left her split from Sammy behind her as she flashed a smile and waved to cameras.

Elsewhere at the event, former L ove Island star Olivia Attwood explained why she hasn't been watching I'm A Celebrity after she was forced to withdraw on medical grounds.

She explained: "I haven't watched it yet for two reasons. I got to bed at nine o'clock, it's so sad, and the second reason is I'm avoiding it.

"I don't want to feel sad. I was so confident I was going to be there, it was very, very close.

"It was a very difficult conversation and decision to make. I need to be here now. It's the right time. Never say never but yeah."
