JAKE Quickenden is about to become a dad for the first time.
The Dancing On Ice champion, 32, is expecting a baby with his girlfriend Sophie Church and opened up about suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage last year.
"I'm so excited to be a dad," he told HELLO!
"It's something I've always wanted to do and I feel completely ready for it."
The Sun Online first revealed they were dating in 2018 following his fling with Love Island star Darylle after he broke off his engagement to Danielle Fogarty.
This will be Jake's first child and Sophie is already mum to her son Freddie, six, from a previous relationship.
"Jake will be such an amazing dad," Sophie, 27, said.
"Just seeing how he is with Freddie, I know that he will be brilliant and completely hands on."
The couple also revealed that Sophie suffered a devastating miscarriage last year when she was six weeks pregnant.
"Even though I was only six weeks pregnant it really hit me hard," Sophie said
"With this pregnancy we still carry that worry, so it was nice to have the scan and know that everything is okay.
"We had been trying for a year and a half and I was doing ovulation tests and everything and Jake said: 'Stop putting pressure on us, it will happen when it's meant to happen.' But when you really want something it's so hard to not feel disappointed every month."
Jake explained that he wanted his own child after the experience of being a step-dad to Sophie's son.
"Freddie is a little legend," said.
"He's like my best mate. I met him when he was four, but I don't say that I'm his dad because I'm not and he's already got a really great dad.
"He's got me used to being around kids and it will be so nice to have my own child, too."
Jake said that he's excited to become a dad and looking forward to teaching his baby about sports.
"I hope it will like sport and I can teach it everything my mum and dad taught me," he said.
"I'm excited for everything, apart from the nappies. I'm not sure I will ever get used to that. And I'm a bit nervous about not knowing what to do. Babies are so little and vulnerable."
Earlier this year Jake admitted they had a big fallout after having to spend all their time together in lockdown that he found himself relegated to the spare room.
He explained: "Don't get me wrong, the first week was tough – we argued a lot. I think that was just a bit of teething. Suddenly we were together all the time.
"I was in the doghouse, I slept in the spare room for three days. We had a big argument, we sorted it out and for the past two weeks we've had a right laugh."
Jake was first linked to the single mum from Essex in August before she appeared briefly on Celebs Go Dating.
A source said at the time: “Sophie has definitely caught his eye; they’ve been spending quality time together and Jake loves the fact she isn't in the celebrity world."
During her time on Celebs Go Dating, Sophie proved very popular when both Alik Alfus and Eyal Booker wanted to date her after meeting her at a mixer.
In very cringe worthy scenes, Alik asked Sophie out but she declined him in front of everyone because she wanted to date Eyal.
But when the Love Island star asked her out, she started shouting: “I feel horrible but I am just going to be honest.
"I feel like I am going to crying. He’s a really nice guy but Eyal is more my type.”
Looking horrified Eyal then changed his mind in a shock twist and picked a new date – leaving Sophie dateless.
