Loose Women suffered an awkward technical failure today (September 16), as Lacey Turner was cut off mid-interview.

The EastEnders star appeared on the episode of the ITV daytime series via video-link ahead of her character Stacey Fowler's return to the BBC One soap this week.

During the interview, Stacey discussed her maternity leave and coming back to the show after having a baby.

When asked by Linda Robson about an anecdote relating to her forgetting her wedding anniversary, Lacey's screen froze and her broadcast into the studio got cut off, resulting in an awkward moment.

Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams said: "Oh no."

The show's panellist Carol McGiffin added: "Come back. We love her."

A second glitch happened shortly afterwards.

Kaye said: "Well, we have got Lacey back, thank goodness. You froze on us there."

Realising that Lacey's screen was again frozen, she added: "Oh no.

"We really wanted to ask about Trilby, the little baby, and Dusty and I think dad is in charge at home."

With Lacey's interview finally cut short, Kaye reassured viewers: "Well, listen. We'll definitely have Lacey back with us very very soon. She's a great friend of the show."

The episode then cut to an ad break.

Before the technical fail, Lacey revealed that she "couldn't speak for a week" when she first joined the soap age 16.

She explained: "I just remember looking at Mo and uncle Charlie and the likes of Pam St Clement and our lovely Barbara [Windsor] and thinking, 'this is crazy.'

She added: "I couldn't speak. I didn't speak to anybody for about a week.

"I just sort of sat there and [acted shyly]."

Elsewhere in the episode, panellists Carol and Kéllé Bryan locked horns over the wearing of facemasks by children.

Loose Women airs at 12.30 pm on weekdays on ITV.
