Love Island hit by fake claims as viewer complaints reach 700 after 10 days

Love Island viewers have accused the show of faking scenes for drama.

Tensions in the villa have been ramped up a gear thanks to the fallout from the Dirty Dancing challenge.

Sophie and Shaughna were heartbroken to discover their fellas, Callum and Connor, heart rates soared with the arrival of bombshell Rebecca.

As dictated by the results, the boys were treated to a date in the Hideaway with Rebecca – much to the horror of their partners.

Some viewers began to question if the results were accurate and accused producers of picking the two males that would spark the biggest upset to date Rebecca.

One asked: "Anyone think the heart rates weren’t raised more for the newbie? The producers totally picked the two which would stir the s*** most #LoveIsland."

"The producers really think I’m gonna believe this fake heart rate nonsense is real #LoveIsland," added another.

"Wow the Love Island producers are lucky that 2 of the boys fancied the new girl the most, if not those 2 dates that had been set up would have gone to waste," joked a third with an eye roll emoji.

Fans of the show were also dubious as to whether Connagh had been encouraged by producers to confront Sophie about her secret kiss with Connor.

Sophie initially lied to new Connagh, but he continued to press her on the matter until she finally revealed the truth.

A spokesperson for the show has denied that any of the scenes are faked for entertainment.

"It’s nonsense to suggest the heart rate results were fake or staged," they told the Mirror.

The accusations come amid reports the ITV2 show has been hit with nearly 700 OFCOM complaints in just 10 days.

Controversy was building even ahead of the winter show after pictures of contestant Ollie Williams posed up with dead animals.

The scenes riled viewers who demanded he be booted out of the show. The aristocrat eventually walked after just three days in the villa.

In a statement released after his departure, Ollie denied he'd been involved in trophy hunting and said he quit the show to try and rekindle a relationship with his ex girlfriend.

While Connor's 'controlling' of Sophie was another gripe for viewers along with Siannise's 'racist' Aladdin comment to Nas.
