OUR YORKSHIRE Farm star Amanda Owen was left unimpressed by presenter Steph McGovern's comment about her "glamorous" appearance.
The mum of nine and hard-working shepherdess was chatting with the host on Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch and replied pointedly: "we don't like stereotypes".
Amanda, 46, is the star of the Channel 5 documentary which follows her life on a working farm in Ravenseat, Upper Swaledale, alongside her husband Clive, 67, and their brood of kids.
As they spoke, Steph, 38, commented: "Throughout it all you stay so glamorous.
"Which, always, I’m amazed about."
But quickly dismissing her compliment, Amanda revealed: "Look at my hands though Steph. Honestly, I’ve got iodine up my arm.
"I painted my nails while I was waiting to do this, but I really don’t know why I’ve bothered!"
Amanda is mum to Raven, 20, Reuben, 17, Miles, 15, Edith, 12, Violet, 10, Sidney, nine, Annas, seven, Clemmie, five, and Nancy, four.
She went on to add: "Yes, we don’t like stereotypes – I think that’s the thing, you know.
"I mean yes, I’ve got a sheepdog, yes I’ve got a crook.
"Yes, I spend my time running around after sheep – but I can do other things too."
Emphasising her point, the animal lover went on: "I think that’s the name of the game – to be able to turn your hand to whatever comes your way."
Amanda once revealed she ended up giving birth to her eighth child, daughter Clemmie, alone – but she doesn't care that husband Clive missed the birth.
Choosing to give birth at home, Amanda said during an interview on This Morning: "The thought of just staying at home was a really good option.
"I got fed up of ruining people's picnics, so I put the kettle on, stoked up the fire and just had her by the fire with my terrier as a birthing partner."
She explained she turned to the dog to support her through the delivery, after waking up her husband and him opting out.
"I woke up my husband, but the matter of fact is, quite simply, he's seen me give birth to seven children before."
Our Yorkshire Farm airs Tuesday at 9pm on Channel 5.
