Ozark will return in 2022 on Netflix for a two-part final season. Picking up directly after the events of season three, Marty (played by Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) are in their most dangerous situation yet. After the release of the first teaser, fans are concerned the pair may be facing their final moments.

Will Marty and Wendy die on the run in Mexico?

Netflix just dropped the first teaser for the fourth and final season of Ozark and fans are already speculating what could happen.

The trailer shows Marty and Wendy after the shocking events seen at the end of season three.

Both are still in Mexico and shell-shocked following the murder of Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey).

The entire trailer is just one scene, which shows the pair cleaning the blood off themselves and staring vacantly into a mirror.

The trailer closes with a knock on the door and Marty turning around with a look of fear on his face.

There has been a lot of speculation that the pair will die during the final season, or at the very least Marty will die.

The consequences of his actions have been slowly catching up with him over the last three seasons and the fourth season looks to be his darkest hour.

The exact plot for season four remains to be seen, though a recent interview with MRC President of Television, Elise Henderson, has suggested the Byrdes may actually make it out of season four alive.

Speaking to Deadline, Henderson said: “What we want first is to make sure that we preserve that creative project. If there is something additional beyond that, of course, we’d be open to it.

“We have incredible executive producers on that project.

“They’ve really created something special, and we would obviously look into it, but nothing certainly right now.”

Clearly, the idea for a continuation of the show is there, but what form it takes has not been revealed.

It could be that the Byrdes will make it out of the season alive and continue in a potential spin-off or even a fifth season.

Netflix has made it clear that season four is the last for the show though, but it will be split into two parts.

As for a spin-off, it would most likely not include the Byrdes, making their death in the fourth instalment more likely again.

Without a release date on season four, it is hard to estimate when more details will emerge, though it will most likely drop in early 2022.

The second part will likely come in summer 2022, or three months after the first part’s premiere, as is typical for Netflix to do.

Fans have been reacting to the new trailer for the final season, with many of them taking to the comments to share their thoughts.

Valle wrote: “This show is awesome and kinda underrated. I feel more people need to watch it. I love it.”

“Ben’s character shattered me. Tom Pelphrey should have won an Emmy for last season,” Hollow Bastion added.

Techosaurus commented: “I can’t wait for this, best show on Netflix. The acting and writing are fantastic.”

Ozark season 4 will premiere in 2022 exclusively on Netflix.
