Pete Davidson 'seeking treatment' weeks after joking about rehab check-in and 'cooling off' from girlfriend Kaia Gerber

COMEDIAN Pete Davidson is reportedly "seeking treatment" weeks after joking about checking into rehab on Saturday Night Live.

The 26-year-old is reportedly "taking a break to work on his mental health" and in turn "cooling off" his romance with Kaia Gerber, according to E! News.

An insider told the publication: "It became very clear that he had to go and do this and couldn't wait any longer.

"This is his second time seeking treatment, his first being in 2016."

A second source close to the actor explained that Pete has entered into a "program" which has made it difficult for he and the supermodel to have any contact.

The same source said Kaia, 18, "doesn't know if she wants to continue in their relationship," especially since she "wasn't comfortable with what she saw and doesn't know if she can handle it.

"What she saw happen with Pete was very concerning and scary for her… She cares about Pete and wants him to get better. But their future is very much up in the air."

Last month on SNL, he made a joking reference to rehab, saying he was "going on 'vacation' but insurance pays for some of it, and they take your phone and shoelaces. And it costs $100,000 but I still have roommates."

Pete has been open about his drug use and mental health struggles in the past – saying he's smoked pot since age 16, adding: "I can perform when I'm not high, but it wouldn't be that much fun for me."

He also told Marc Maron’s podcast he struggled with borderline personality disorder, and in 2018, worried fans with a post about suicidal thoughts before deleting Instagram.

The Set It Up star, who briefly dated Kate Beckinsale in 2019, previously went to rehab in 2016 for drug addiction.

The comedian spent three months sober, but was reported to have returned to smoking weed.

He told Howard Stern in 2018: "There was no way I could stop. I was like, somebody has to put me in a house where there is literally nothing. I had too much access.

"I was sober for three months at one point and was like this f***ing sucks. I don’t want to feel like this."

Pete said that he needed marijuana for his Crohn's Disease and admitted: "I also just love smoking weed."

However, following his split from Ariana Grande, Pete was visited by police after sharing a worrying Instagram post which said he "doesn’t want to be on this earth any more."

Concerns for Pete were raised after he shared a concerning post that suggested he was feeling very low and struggling with life.

He wrote: "I really don't want to be on this earth anymore. I'm doing my best to stay here for you but I actually don't know how much longer I can last.

"All I've tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so."

However he went on to delete his entire Instagram account following the incident, which left fans even more concerned for his well-being.
