Johannes Radebe and John Whaite performed a high-tempo Salsa to We Are Family by Sister Sledge to open Saturday’s instalment of Strictly Come Dancing. The duo received rapturous applause for their routine, but Johannes was left devastated after slipping up during the performance. He told Tess Daly and the judging panel he was sorry for his error.

John and Johannes received a standing ovation from their Strictly co-stars for their Salsa, but Johannes looked distraught when he finished the dance.

“I’m so sorry,” he told presenter Tess Daly and the judges ahead of their comments.

A confused Tess asked: “Why are you sorry?”

Johannes replied: “Because I gave him the wrong hand.”
