Despite each celeb delivering some of their best performances in the final, many fans thought the Turtle was robbed of his deserved victory given Jesse’s impressive run of performances in season three.

After the dust settled, Entertainment Weekly sat down with Jesse McCartney to discuss the highs and lows of his Masked Singer experience.

During the interview, Jesse confirmed he was disappointed when his name wasn’t called as this year’s winner.

The country star said: “It’s okay, honestly. It was such a fun, incredible experience that I’ll never forget. Of course there was disappointment on the initial reveal day.”

Kandi Burruss caused a minor upset on social media when she was announced as the winner over the final’s fan favourite, Jesse.

The singer-songwriter confirmed this year’s series was even more competitive than usual as the race for victory began to heat up in season three’s final episodes.

Jesse continued: “When you get that far, when you start with 18 people and then get to the final three, you definitely smell blood. You can smell the end.

“And yeah, I mean, I was disappointed, but ultimately, it could have been anybody’s game. If you told me in the beginning of the season that I was going to finish second, I would have done it again in a heartbeat.”

Many viewers had already tipped the final three contestants as Jesse, Kandi and Bow Wow, with some even predicting the Frog had already been leaked as this year’s winner.

However, Jesse also confirmed he had no idea this year’s eventual winner was actually reality show star, Kandi Burruss.

He added: “I had an idea that Bow Wow was the Frog but I wasn’t certain, and I actually had no idea who Night Angel was.”

Comments from Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch have confirmed season four of the Masked Singer is eying an Autumn 2020 release date, pending coronavirus restrictions on production.
