Towie’s Amy Childs defends decision to put daughter Polly on screen but not son Ritchie

THE Only Way Is Essex legend Amy Childs has defended her decision to put her daughter Polly on screen – but not her son Ritchie.

The reality TV star, 30, says she's flooded with messages from fans demanding to know why Richie, one, doesn't appear on her social media or in TV shows.

Amy was back by popular demand filming the reunion episodes to celebrate Towie's 10th anniversary last night.

She told The Sun: "Putting her on the show was obviously something I needed to think about very carefully, especially as I don't put Ritchie on social media.

"I want to clear this up too because I get a lot of messages on social media every single day saying 'why do you always put up pictures of your daughter and not your son or why is Polly on the show and not Ritchie'. 'Do you love your daughter more? etc'.

"I must get about 20 messages a day about Ritchie, but basically me and Ritchie's dad agreed together not to put Ritchie on social media or TOWIE.

"We won't put him on social media or TV until he is old enough to make that decision himself.

"He is a beautiful little boy, he is like a mini-me and of course I love him every bit as much as Polly. Polly has a different dad and I made different decision with Polly and it is that simple.

"It was a hard decision because I don't want Ritchie or Polly to grow up and say why did you do that with me and not my brother and sister.

"All the constant messages questioning my love for Ritchie does get me down though because I love my children exactly the same.

"Having one in the public eye and one not doesn't reflect how much I love them. It is just different decisions based on different dads.

"At the end of the day it's nobody else's business. They are my kids and I will bring them up the best way I chose but I would like to get that message out to try and explain the reason."

Amy says three-year-old Polly loves being in front of the camera.

She added: "Polly is the star of the show. She is so funny. She will definitely going to be an Essex girl. She is like her mum. She is young and fun and really loves filming.

"When Polly is older she will obviously be able to chose for herself what she wants to do.

"I would never force her to do anything she didn't want to. At the moment she is a part of my life and a part of TOWIE.

"If she ever says she doesn't want to film I would never make her. She's young and just as fun with the camera and crew.

"I think she is made for TV but she can do whatever she wants. I've put her in to a beautiful private school so she can be a lawyer or accountant or doctor or anything she wants to be but it will always be her choice.

"If she turns 18 and says she wants to go on Love Island she has to do what she wants to do. I wouldn't like it but I went on Towie. I wouldn't be able to say anything."

  • TOWIE returns Sunday, September 13 at 9pm on ITVBe. Continues every Wednesday and Sunday.
