White House Farm – four huge questions from tonight's episode

WHITE House Farm got off to a VERY grisly start with the murders of Jeremy Bamber's entire family.

The ITV true crime drama had an explosive first episode with lots of juicy questions that need answering.

Recap of White House Farm episode 1

The show kicked off in the early hours of Wednesday August 7, 1985, when police in Chelmsford received a phone call from local farmer Jeremy Bamber.

Officers were called to an incident at his parents’ farmhouse, White House Farm.

Jeremy’s sister Sheila, mother June, father Nevill and twin nephews Nicholas and Daniel are all found dead.

Did Jeremy get on with his sister Shelia?

In one of the first scenes of the show we meet Shelia – Jeremy's sister.

She has recently been receiving treatment for her mental health and we see her at a housewarming party for her ex boyfriend – who has now moved their two children into a new home he shares with his new girlfriend.

However, we see Shelia getting increasing upset when her brother Jeremy turns up at the party.

She appears to have an emotional breakdown in the toilets.

Next we saw her heading for that fateful trip to her parents house, along with her twin boys – this will be the last journey they ever make.

How could Shelia shoot herself twice?

The show quickly moved on to the grisly murders where, after an early morning call from Jeremy, police go to investigate a possible shooting at his parents' farm.

Jeremy tells police he had received a distressing call from his dad telling him his sister was threatening the family with a gun.

A swat team is sent into investigate and the officers find June and Neville Bamber dead, along with Shelia and her twin sons.

In real life we know that Jeremy was convicted of the murders, however, in the drama we see that Shelia has a rifle placed on her body between her hands as though she was the killer.

Police think it's an open and shut case that Shelia killed her family.

However, savvy Detective Stan Jones see that she has been shot twice – how could she have shot herself fatally twice?

What were Jeremy and Julie talking about?

After being told of the murders Jeremy is violently sick and breaks down – he looks like he is a broken man.

However, back at his flat he starts to act as though nothing has happened, which makes his cousin Ann suspicious.

She also overhears him talking to his girlfriend Julie in his bedroom – although the couple immediately stop talking as soon a she walks in the room.

What were they talking about?

How will Detective Stan Jones prove Jeremy Bamber's guilt?

Towards the end things started to unravel for Jeremy Bamber as Detective Stan Jones was immediately suspicious of him.

The case appears to be open-and-shut to leading investigating officer DI Thomas ‘Taff’ Jones, who concludes that Sheila, who had mental health problems, is responsible for killing her parents and children, and then herself.

But for DS Stan Jones, something doesn’t feel right. Stan’s concerns bring him into conflict with his superior officer Taff.

He is given the responsibility of family liaison and told to toe the line.

Something doesn't add up to him about the murders.
